From the Chair
Greetings! We spent the month of April reaching out to stakeholders across Texas to share a great opportunity with you - reserving free, printed copies of the Infant, Toddler, and Three-Year-Old Early Learning Guidelines. We'd had over 1500 people and 60 state and local organizations request copies, more than 20,000 copies so far! In other news related to the Guidelines, we released a Spanish language version of the Guidelines earlier this month, known as Las Directivas de Texas para el Aprendizaje Temprano de Bebés, Niños Pequeños y Niños de Tres Años de Edad. This is a great resource for early childhood professionals, caregivers, and parents who are more comfortable receiving information in Spanish

As you may recall, earlier this year we released a Request for Proposals (RFP) to hire a contractor for TECPDS. The system will host a new, online Texas Trainer Registry, a new workforce registry, and new professional development resources. This month, we started working with our contractor to design and build TECPDS... Read More

T.E.A.C.H. Is Enrolling New Students Now!
Are you a teacher at a child care center who is interested in earning a scholarship to pursue an Associate's degree? Are you a home-based child care provider who is interested in earning a scholarship to pursue an Associate's degree? Are you interested in receiving a scholarship for the Child Development Associate (CDA) Assessment fee?
The T.E.A.C.H. Early Childhood® TEXAS Project, operated by the Texas Association for the Education of Young Children, is enrolling new students for the Summer semester! As you may recall, the Council provided funding for the T.E.A.C.H. Early Childhood® TEXAS Project in 2012. The Council is very pleased with the progress of the program and the students who have enrolled to pursue Associate's degrees and CDA Assessment fee scholarships. In fact, the Council approved additional funding for the T.E.A.C.H. Early Childhood® TEXAS Project earlier this year. We hope that this additional funding will support the dedicated early care and education providers who are interested in their own professional development through the T.E.A.C.H. Early Childhood® TEXAS Project...Read More
New Online Training Modules for Core Competencies
Have you ever taken an online course or training? The Council is developing online training modules for practitioners and administrators based on the Texas Core Competencies for Early Childhood Practitioners and Administrators. These online training modules will introduce the information in the core competencies and allow professionals to earn annual professional development hours. The training modules will be hosted on the Texas Early Childhood Professional Development System and will be available in the late Summer.
If you've ever taken an online class or training, what did you like or dislike? Do you prefer animated videos and images? Do you think presentations with an audio file explaining the content in the presentation to be helpful for learning?
We will use your feedback as we work with a vendor to develop the training modules. Contact Us with your comments and suggestions!
