From the Chair - February 28, 2011

As you may know, the Council has been deliberating on ideas for reinvestment of funds.  In December 2011, Council Members heard testimony from stakeholders on this matter.  By January 15, 2012, individual Council Members submitted proposals to the Council at large.  These proposals were discussed during a call on January 27, 2012.  At the end of the call, the Council Members voted on the proposals.  Of the six reinvestment proposals, four were approved by the Council.

Following that vote, Council staff was instructed to adjust the Council's budget accordingly and submit a revised budget to the Administration on Children and Families for review and approval.  The changes have been submitted but we are still awaiting approval.  As soon as we receive any information on this matter, we will send out an update through our listserv announcing the new investments and next steps.  Thank you for your patience.

I am very impressed by the effort and time our Council put into the process of reinvestment.  I think we produced some very meaningful and needed new priorities for the Council.  These new priorities will increase our workload significantly; however, I think the time and effort we put in during this next year and a half will benefit children and families in our state for a long time to come.  Please take a look at our "A Closer Look" section to learn more about current Council projects and their progress.

Sincerely,

John W. Gasko, Ph.D.
